Some of the people at my former hall used to talk about whether everyone would go naked in the new system.

"Ooooohhhh I just CANT WAIT for Armageddon!"
by TimothyT inin my congregation i could name at least 10 brothers, and likely more, who just couldnt wait for armageddon to come.
the way they spoke about it clearly showed that they were just so excited.
you could just see their eyes light up at the prospect of the wicked being destroyed and removed from this earth.

I like to buy turkeys when they are on sale and save them for later. Everyone at my house really likes turkey, and it's hard to find one at the store anytime except right at Thanksgiving, Christmas and maybe Easter. I want turkey more than 3 times a year.

It's an apostaturkey - tempting all who lay eyes upon it to celebrate the unholy trinity - turkey, stuffing, and gravy

Beards are sexy. The borg does not want sexy brothers. Just Ron was just too sexy for the Borg.

welcome!!
your wife may wake up too. it took Just Ron and I 10 years to get on the same page and get out of the borg. they are experts in driving a wedge between marriage partners. there were many times when one of us would feel like we wanted out, but were too afraid to say anything for fear of losing our marriage. i am so grateful that Ron didn't bail on me when he first realized it wasn't the truth, because I was really blind then and it could well have ended our marriage. now we are both out, our kids are still young, and we are enjoying life together.

Ray Franz - Crisis of Conscience
by Celestial ini've never read crisis of conscience.
could someone briefly describe some of his observations that clashed with his moral compass?

I am reading it right now. The one thing that stands out to me is the fact that witnesses in mexico were allowed to bribe officials to get a military card while not actually participating in the military training, but witnesses in Malawi were required to refuse to buy a party card, even though there was only one party and buying the card was a legal practice in that country. Also, witnesses in the US at the time were expected to go to prison rather than accept alternative service when drafted. It was a hypocritical stance, without any sort of scriptural support for either position. It really bothered Franz, and even though those events happened long ago, they really bother me now as well.

In my former hall, there is a sister whose husband was killed in a car accident returning home from an assembly in November 2006. SHe and another passenger survived (barely), and she still has medical problems related to her injuries. They weren't assigned to that assembly, but they went in order to see a relative get baptized.
Another girl, a born in who wasn't baptized, skipped the Sunday session of the circuit assembly and died on her way home from work. It's thought she went into sudden cardiac arrest and crashed her car. Many people said if she'd been at the circuit assembly instead, she'd have maybe survived because they had AED devices at the assembly facility and it was only a few blocks from a good hospital instead of having to wait for a Lifeflight helicopter. That was in June 2005.

I am anti abortion. I think there are better ways to deal with the consequences of sex. I genuinely believe that it is wrong to purposely interfere with the natural development of a fertilized egg. I don't have a problem avoiding fertilization - take the pill, wear a condom, get your tubes tied - I don't see anything unethical with those methods.
However, there are situations where I feel it is unethical refuse a woman an abortion. If the continuation of the pregnancy is causing an immediate threat to the mother's life, then I don't think she should be forced to carry on. I am unsure of how to proceed in the case of rape or incest. The mental trauma to both the woman and the child could be massive, and it doesn't seem fair to force a woman to carry a baby who is the product of a crime. It also doesn't seem fair to end the life of a person based on who the father is.
